Susan has been a teacher and/or librarian for more than 25 years. She has taught in Alabama and Maryland as well as Texas. With degrees in Special Education, Music, and Library Science, she has worked with all levels and all ages of students. Knowing that music is not only loved by students but is also a way of teaching, she uses her harp to entrance students along with telling stories to them.

For the past six years Susan has taught storytelling to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at her school. The Storytelling Club, consisting of 25-30 students, meets for lunch in the library every Monday to practice their storytelling
skills and learn new stories. Five students from the Richland Rocketellers have been chosen to tell their stories at the Tejas Storytelling Festival, which takes place in Denton, TX, each spring. Teaching students to love and share storytelling is an evolving experience for both librarian and students.
